Living in a Dream

We are all living in a dream until we decide to wake up.

People are programmed from a young age to fit in with society. We are taught what is right and what is wrong. Most of us follow the same path. We are born, we go to school, get married, have kids, die. Why?

Why do we all, for the most part follow exactly the same paths in our lives?

Young people have dreams but by the time they are done school they are so busy paying off student loans or looking after their own kids their dreams sadly go unfulfilled. The truth is most of us get so busy in out lives that we don't stop to have a look at where we are headed.

I had spent the first 38 years of my life in a dream. To be fair I had my eyes open but I did not see the reality that was hidden in plain sight. How did I start to wake up?

It all began in university with the discovery of Ayn Rand. Her philosophy of Objectivism put me on the path. I studied her works in earnest after the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11. I wanted to know why the Muslims hated us so bad. Furthermore, as an athiest, Objectivism also provided a framework in which to live my life. Finally, Rand's writings made me fall in love with the American constitution and the promise for freedom that it held.

Over the next 10 years I read all of Ayn Rand's books the most imporant of which is Atlas Shrugged. In 2011 the world seemed to be getting crazy again. The world was still suffering from the Global Financial Crisis. Greece was crippled, America was broke and New Zealand had a Prime Minister with a background in finance who refused to balance the books. Why?

I started browsing youtube and found many videos that helped to start waking me. Videos by Roger Douglas, John Stossel, Milton Friedman, Peter Schiff, Ron Paul and Nick Gillespie. These men are my heros. I had suspected it was the lefties/commies or lobyists who were trying to take us down the dark path of socialism and destroy capitalism. However, socialism could not explain all of the contradictions that I continued to see happening on the news:
  • Why did the bankers get the bailouts (billions of dollars) while the American poeple got nothing?
  • The cronyism in American business where the American government picks loosers and winners when they are supposed to be "capitalists". Why?
  • Despite billions of dollars of dollars in bailouts Italy had a banker installed as Prime Minister and Greece lost its sovereignty. Why?

I am sure you see these contradictions too but can't put them into context or explain them.

Finally, after watching a video by Alex Jones on infowars.com I awoke. Not only did I wake but I was horrified what I what I saw....
